Tigers tail off to Comets

GLASGOW’S 2017 campaign ended with further disappointment tonight as Workington took a 47-43 victory in the clubs’ final meeting of the year.

The Championship contest was effectively meaningless, with playoffs already having taken place, but the Ashfield team had said they were determined to go out on a high in front of their own fans.

But it was another frustrating night as a patched-up Comets team were the more impressive outfit – refusing to let the Tigers get away and eventually pulling ahead in the closing stages.

It brings to a close a season which promised much in the early stages but has fizzled out in recent months, and club bosses are likely to go back to the drawing board in the winter as they try to put a team together that will finally win them a coveted league title.
