GLASGOW have today revealed a new club ambassador – and there couldn’t be a more suitably-named person for the job.
Legendary DJ ‘Tiger’ Tim Stevens has given his backing to speedway at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium as part of a tie-in with club sponsors and owners Allied Vehicles.
Tim is best known for presenting shows on Radio Clyde and has been awarded an MBE for his services to broadcasting and charity work.
He hung up his headphones in 2010 having been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, but continues to be one of Scotland’s best-loved figures in the world of entertainment.
Tim will now help to promote the work of the Tigers and spread the word about the efforts to create sporting history in the north of Glasgow.
He said: “I know the team at Allied well and when they invited me to become an ambassador for Glasgow Tigers, I couldn’t wait to get involved.
“Speedway in Glasgow is an institution and I’ve kept tabs on the Tigers down the years through my work on the radio – and it’s fantastic to see them still thriving in 2017.
“I hope I can help to get the word out there about the great work going on at the Peugeot Ashfield Stadium and I will try to get along to as many meetings as I possibly can.
“It would be fantastic for the people of Possilpark, and Glasgow, to see the club win some trophies this year and I wish the team all the best for the rest of the season.”
