GLASGOW could face another semi-final showdown with rivals Edinburgh in this year’s SGB Championship Pairs final.
The Tigers have been drawn in Group A for the event on July 21, with the Monarchs lining up in Group B.
It keeps the sides apart during the initial qualifying heats of the meeting – and means they could go head-to-head in the semis, just like in last year’s competition, should one finish top and one second in their respective sections.
Glasgow were knocked out at that stage in last year’s event by Edinburgh, as Ryan Fisher caught Richard Lawson on the final bends to send him and Sam Masters through and dump Lawson and Aaron Summers out.
The groups for the 2017 contest, hosted at Somerset, look fairly even – with any one of several pairings likely to challenge for the title.
Peterborough’s in-form duo of Chris Harris and Jack Holder, along with Ipswich stars Danny King and Rory Schlein, are among Glasgow’s Group A rivals.
Meanwhile Edinburgh will have to overcome Josh Grajczonek and Kyle Howarth (Sheffield) and Robert Lambert and Steve Worrall (Newcastle) if they’re to be successful.
For Glasgow, Lawson and Summers will line up once again and the former could prove to be a trump card, given Somerset is his home track in the Premiership.
