Tigers moved back to the top of the league table with a comfortable win over a spirited Redcar side.
The meeting had been in doubt throughout the day but the rain eased off a couple of hours before the start with the track holding up well.
The Bears were weakened with injuries to Charles Wright and Ellis Perks and Glasgow took early advantage of this by quickly opening up an eight point lead after heat 4.
Jason Garrity took the visitors first win in heat 5 before a Dan Bewley engine failure whilst ahead in heat 6 stopped Tigers from extending their lead.
A brave first lap from Tom Perry in heat 7 riding wide around Jonas B Andersen took him to a paid win behind Richie Worrall to put Tigers 12 up.
Two drawn heats followed, with Perry again showing bravery passing Richard Hall on the outside of bend 4 to stop Redcar taking their first heat advantage in heat 9.
Ben Barker then took an easy 6 point win in heat 10 with Aaron Summers having to pass Andersen after a bad start.
Bears kept themselves in the hunt for a losing point with another two drawn heats but a superb first lap by Summers in heat 13, took him ahead of Garrity to back up Richie Worral and take Tigers to an unassailable 13 point lead.
The racing had been heating up and heat 14 saw Andersen take Richard Lawson right out to the fence causing him to drop to last. He passed Hall on the second lap and partner Perry a lap later but although he closed up on the Dane he couldn’t take the win. Lawson showing his displeasure with Andersen’s tactics after the race!
Worrall was going for his maximum in heat 15 but Garrity gave him a shove on the first bend and he dropped to the back. Summers looked to have the race won but went too wide at the start of the second lap and allowed Barker through on the inside for the Bears only proper heat advantage.
Glasgow just had too much for Redcar who relied heavily on former Tiger Ben Barker and to a lesser extent Jason Garrity. The home side all won a race with the exception of Jack Smith who at least had the boost of a couple of points for the second match in a row. Tom Perry deservedly won man of the match with some brave outside charges which didn’t always come off against more experienced opponents.
Tigers stop/start home fixtures take another break next week before an interesting match against Peterborough in a fortnight’s time
