Tigers fall at first Fours hurdle

GLASGOW made a disappointing exit in the semi-final of today’s Championship Fours – after finishing fourth in their qualifying group.

The Tigers only managed nine points from eight heats at Peterborough’s East of England Showground.

The Ashfield men had been dealt a late blow when Richie Worrall was forced to withdraw from the event, after sustaining a knee injury while riding in Poland yesterday.

Teenager Dan Bewley stepped in but found the going tough, failing to score in either of his two rides.

Richard Lawson had got Glasgow’s challenge off to the perfect start by winning the opening race. But he ran a last in his second outing and that was it as far as heat victories were concerned.

Aaron Summers and Nike Lunna scored three each, and that wasn’t enough to put them in contention to make the final – which Ipswich, Redcar, Peterborough and Sheffield qualified for.

The Tigers finished on nine, one ahead of bottom-placed Berwick and nine behind group winners Ipswich.

Peterborough put their home track advantage to good use by winning the meeting.
